Berkhamsted and Tring Living Magazines Oakman Inn montage

Local pub chains have scored highly as employers in The Sunday Times 100 Best Companies Awards 2017. Oakman Inns & Restaurants, operator of the King’s Arms in Berkhamsted and the Akeman in Tring, rises to eighth position in the Top 10 Best Companies To Work For in the UK and are the highest ranked in the Hospitality sector.

In recent years Oakman Inns has consistently achieved a Top 50 ranking; this year the company also won the ‘Best Improver Award’ in the mid-sized category.

Peter Borg-Neal, (pictured above, centre, receiving an earlier award) Oakman Inns’ chief executive who founded the business in 2007 with his first pub, The Akeman in Tring, said: ‘I am incredibly proud of what we’ve achieved.’
The Peach Pub Company, which runs the Old Mill in Berkhamsted, reached number 45 in the Top 100 Best Companies to Work For, with a Two Star accreditation.

Simon McLoughlin, Peach director said, ‘When we started Peach 15 years ago we set out to open one, really great pub. Now, to be recognised as one of the best companies to work for in the whole of the UK is a dream come true.’
Now in its 17th year, The Sunday Times Top 100 is an annual ranking and survey of the best of Britain’s employers.
