Word’s Out About Festival of Verse

Berkhamsted Festival of Verse

Berkhamsted Poetry Society is launching the town’s first Festival of Verse this September in the canal-side gardens of The Old Mill pub.

The headline show features award-winning performers John Hegley and Paul Cookson in An Evening Without George and Ringo.

The festival is a celebration of creativity, language, and community. As well as live performances, visitors can enjoy recitals, creative writing workshops, musical interludes and more.

The Berkhamsted Poetry Society is a vibrant local group of poets, writers, and artists united by a love for language and storytelling.

The group meets monthly in a relaxed and supportive space to share their work, discuss literature and the arts, and stretch their creativity through prompts and live writing exercises.

The society also supports local outreach projects, from businesses looking for a different entertainment event, to public recitals at county fairs, exhibitions, open gardens and festivals. Members work alongside schools and libraries, and fundraise for the St Francis Hospice and other charities.

The festival takes place on Saturday 6 September from 2-10pm. Tickets from www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/berkhamstedfestival-of-verse-tickets-1511134817919.
