£1.4 million investment in Dacorum’s future
Dacorum Borough Council is investing £1.4 million through its Stronger Futures Programme to improve neighbourhoods, strengthen communities and create opportunities for residents across the borough. The investment will support a range of initiatives aimed at creating safer, more inclusive communities, improving local places and helping residents to thrive.
Stronger Futures forms part of the Council’s wider work to create strong foundations for Dacorum’s future. Investment will focus on people, places and communities, particularly where support can make the greatest difference.
Benefits will include:
- Additional CCTV
- Improvements to parks, play areas and public spaces
- Investment in community facilities
- Support for local voluntary and community organisations
- Community Events including the Dinosaur Roadshow offering free family entertainment during the summer holidays
- Regeneration projects that enhance town centres and neighbourhoods
What this means in practice
Examples of projects being supported include activities that bring communities together, provide positive opportunities for children and young people, improve health and wellbeing, and enhance local places. Further details will be shared as they progress throughout the year.
Projects will be delivered throughout 2026/27. The Council will provide regular updates as initiatives launch and projects progress, helping residents follow the benefits and outcomes delivered through the programme.
While some elements of the programme focus on strategic investment in Hemel Hempstead as the borough’s largest town, Stronger Futures is designed to deliver tangible benefits across the borough of Dacorum.
Cllr Sally Symington, Leader of Dacorum Borough Council, said: ‘We are delighted to announce the Stronger Futures programme, aimed at investing in what matters most to our residents and communities.
‘From improving local spaces, supporting community organisations, creating opportunities for young people or helping those who need it most, this programme will deliver visible improvements that people can see and feel in their daily lives.
‘By investing now, we are helping to tackle inequalities, strengthen communities and create a better future for residents across Dacorum.’
Further information about projects delivered through the Stronger Futures Programme will be shared as initiatives are launched throughout 2026/27.
