15 Degree Apprenticeship Police Officers Join Hertfordshire Constabulary

CC Hall with new recruits

Got your exam results and not sure what you’d like to do next?

Or are you looking to try something new and earn whilst you learn? These new recruits are doing just that.

The 15 degree apprenticeship officers were welcomed to Hertfordshire Constabulary at a passing out parade on Friday 25 August.

The cohort of six women and nine men includes a former footballer, optician, chef and childcare practitioner.

They have started their policing careers via a debt-free, fully funded degree apprenticeship, which combines on the job learning with a competitive salary starting at £31,551 and other benefits.

The Police Constable Degree Apprenticeship (PCDA) is a three-year, work-based practical course which enables apprentices to join as a police officer and achieve a BSc (Hons) degree in Professional Policing Practice.

Family and friends of the officers came along to help celebrate their achievement at police headquarters in Welwyn Garden City as Chief Constable Charlie Hall presented them with framed certificates, marking the end of their initial training, with other senior officers and trainers in attendance.

Chief Constable Charlie Hall said: ‘I was delighted to welcome our 15 new recruits. They each come from a very different background, but no doubt have the skills and tenacity it takes to be a police officer.

‘Throughout their training and their career, I know they will make a positive difference to our communities in Hertfordshire.’

Hertfordshire Constabulary is a force that’s putting prevention first to reduce crime and harm, and for those wanting to become police officer, who do not already have a degree, this is a great opportunity to earn while you learn and make a genuine, positive difference to people from all walks of life.
