Vintage Vehicle Rally Success and Upcoming Summer Sizzlers

Vintage Vehicle Rally at Leighton Buzzard Railway

Sunday 22 June saw a gathering of over 100 classic and vintage vehicles at Buzzrail’s Page’s Park station, delighting visitors and owners alike. Drivers showing their classic cars were treated to a reduced-price train ticket on one of five departures, headed by 1919-vintage Andrew Barclay 0-6-0T locomotive ‘Doll’ and 1979-origin (rebuilt 1999 by Alan Keef) 4wDH locomotive ‘Beaudesert’. The popular annual event draws big crowds to the railway and the field next to the station.

The summer fun doesn’t end there though, with lots coming up: the Buzzrail Beer Festival returns on 5 and 6 July with lots of local real ales and, newly added for 2025, the railway’s café partners, Curiositea Rooms will be serving freshly-cooked barbeque food right in the engine shed alongside the bar.

There then follows the amazing Dinosaur Day on Sunday 20 July, when extra-long express trains will be running direct to the railway’s historic Stonehenge Works station, where children and adults alike can meet dinosaurs, large and small, and get chased around by a terrifying T-Rex, or maybe chase it back!

After the success of 2024’s inaugural event, Jazz on the Sand returns on Saturday 9 August for an evening of delightful jazz music courtesy of The Bedfordshire Violinist (with accompaniment) and BBQ food once again supplied by Curiositea Rooms.

The Leighton Buzzard Railway is based at Page’s Park, Leighton Buzzard, and the line runs to Stonehenge Works and Munday’s Hill, adjacent to the sand quarries which the original industrial railway was built to serve. For further information visit www.buzzrail.uk.
