Spring family shows at Aylesbury Waterside Theatre
Aylesbury Waterside Theatre has announced its season of Spring Family Shows – a vibrant programme to entertain and inspire young theatre goers over the coming months.
Explosive education kicks things off as Ministry of Science Live bring their brand-new production to Aylesbury on Saturday 14 February. This high-energy show dives into how science shapes the modern world — complete with thrilling experiments, fascinating facts and plenty of loud bangs along the way.
A beloved classic returns with the Olivier Award-nominated smash hit The Tiger Who Came to Tea from Friday 27-Saturday 28 February. Adapted and directed by David Wood, and based on the classic book by Judith Kerr, this adaptation brings Sophie, her mummy and a very hungry tiger to life in a production filled with songs, surprises and teatime mayhem. Another pre-school favourite takes centre stage when The Enormous Crocodile – The Musical stomps into town from Friday 1-Sunday 3 May. Based on the much-loved story by Roald Dahl, this colourful jungle adventure follows the scheming crocodile whose cunning plans are no match for the courage of his fellow jungle creatures.
A fan of the K-Pop Phenomenom!? K-POP All Stars arrive on Thursday 23 April with an explosive live celebration of the music and culture taking the world by storm. Featuring hits from Blackpink, BTS, Twice, NewJeans and more, audiences can expect breathtaking visuals, razor-sharp choreography and non-stop energy from start to finish.
Meanwhile, history buffs can fill their Terrible Tudor boots – or their Awful Egyptian tombs, when actors and eye-popping 3D special effects bring historical events to life. These two Horrible Histories shows are playing from Fri 15-Sat 16 May. From the horrible Henries to the end of evil Elizabeth, hear the legends (and the lies!) about the torturing Tudors. Find out the fate of Henry’s headless wives and his punch up with the Pope. Meet Bloody Mary and see Ed fall dead in his bed. Then an Egyptian invitation to find out about the fascinating Pharaohs and the power of the pyramids is instore – are you ready to rumble with Ramesses the Great?
Over in the theatre’s Norman Bragg Studio, expect more magic, mayhem and interactive fun with Adventures in Science. The Magical Mr West, best known from magic duo Morgan & West, presents his most amazing show yet on Mon 6 Apr – with help (or hindrance) from a wisecracking cartoon crow. Then for gamers, you can get competitive with WiFi Wars on Sat 7 Mar. Using Guinness World Record-breaking technology, this interactive comedy game show invites the entire audience to compete via their smartphones and tablets in games, quizzes and challenges. The show is suitable for ages 6+.
