Dacorum Borough Council recognised for commitment to animal welfare

Dacorum Borough Council has been recognised for its high standards of animal welfare receiving the Platinum standard in the RSPCA PawPrints Awards.

Both the Environmental Community Protection Animal Welfare service and the Housing team have been recognised for good practice, exceeding basic and statutory service requirements and achieving high animal welfare standards.

Platinum, the highest level of recognition awarded by the RSPCA was awarded in two categories:

  • Stray Dogs Services
    This award recognises safe, welfare led services for stray and lost dogs including reuniting animals with their owners and rehoming animals.
  • Housing
    The award recognises practical, pet inclusive housing approaches that promote responsible ownership and help people and their pets stay together.

Cllr Robin Bromham, Dacorum Borough Council Portfolio Holder for Neighbourhood Operations, said ‘We’re thrilled to be awarded the prestigious Platinum standard in the annual RSPCA PawPrints awards. This was awarded because of our exceptional work in the Stray Dogs category which reflects our commitment to ensuring the welfare of stray dogs in our community and our dedication to responsible dog ownership.’

Cllr Simy Dhyani, Dacorum Borough Council Portfolio Holder for Housing and Property Services, said: ‘I’m so pleased that our Housing team have once again achieved Platinum for our outstanding efforts in the Housing category. We are committed to promoting responsible pet ownership within the properties we manage through a strong policy, robust procedures and a proactive approach. We aim to create a community that values and respects the well-being of pets and their owners and this award is a testament to our ongoing dedication to this cause.’
