Do you have plenty of free time? Do you want to give back to your community but are not sure how to do it? Then read on ….!

Many people find they have time on their hands when they retire or their children leave home. As we get older, it can sometimes be hard to find new interests that allow us to keep active, remain independent and continue to contribute to society. So a new volunteering programme, launched by Community Action Dacorum (CAD), might be just the thing to help you decide what to do.

The project, ‘Local and International Active Seniors’, aims to encourage people aged over the age of 50 to become more engaged with their community through volunteering. CAD will be running a free  programme of three meetings and group sessions to help people find out about volunteering opportunities locally, culminating in the possibility of volunteering overseas for two weeks. After three sessions,  you will have enough information to help you decide what to do, and the team will match you with a suitable local volunteering opportunity for 8 hours as a ‘taster’.

There are three sessions on Thursday 7th March, 14th and 21st, running from 10.00 am to 12.30 at the Volunteer Centre, The Roundhouse in the Marlowes.

If you are interested, call 01442 247209 or email Kerry@communityactiondacorum.org.uk, or visit The Volunteer Centre, the Roundhouse or at Community Action Dacorum in 48 High Street Hemel Hempstead HP1 3AF.  There’s also more information on the CAD website:
