Slip into Slippers is Age UK’s Autumn FUNdraising and Awareness Campaign where they are asking individuals, families, businesses, schools and clubs, to get involved by slipping into their slippers for a day, have some fun and possibly take some photos/videos and make a small donation to Age UK Dacorum.

The chosen day for the Slipper-thon is Friday 7 October, to coincide with United Nations International Day of Older Persons, on Saturday 1 October, and thus the hope is for communities to come together – celebrating the privilege of aging.

On this day, with your help, Age UK Dacorum can highlight the needs of older people and raise vital funds to support its services, so they can strive to meet some of those needs. The range of servicesThe charity also provides opportunities for older people to take part in social activities and meet friends. Loneliness is an ongoing concern particularly in older age and has a significant impact on their health and wellbeing.

Age UK Dacorum are part of the national Age UK ‘network’, but many people don’t realise that, as a local independent charity, it must raise its own funds to run its services. This is therefore a community campaign that will directly benefit local older people and all fundraising will stay within Dacorum.

Pete Elsworth, the Chair of Age UK Dacorum Trustees says: ‘This year has been a significant challenge for everyone. Our charity has had to adapt to ensure the people who need us most receive the help they need in these very difficult times. To continue our work, we need to raise funds. We hope you will show your support and join us in your families, businesses, schools, clubs, on-line groups with Slip into Slippers on Friday 7 October.

We are all aging, help us to create the environment and support services you would like to receive.
