An Afternoon of Passionate and Powerful Classical Music

Appassionata

On Sunday 17 March Aylesbury Vale Concert Orchestra is performing an afternoon of classical music favourites at Aylesbury Waterside Theatre from 4pm-6.30pm. All proceeds from the event will be donated to Florence Nightingale Hospice Charity.

Appassionata allows the audience to experience live orchestral music. Talented young Spanish Pianist Juanjo Blázquez will play Rachmaninov’s Piano Concerto No 2 and Addinsell’s Warsaw Concerto. These, and many of the other pieces that the Orchestra has selected, are some of the most romantic and well-known classics, including Chariots of Fire by Vangelis, the Theme from The Mission as well as excerpts from Swan Lake.

The Aylesbury Vale Concert Orchestra was formed by Sue Hurst and it comprises both amateur and professional musicians who are committed to playing live music together.

Sue explains why she has chosen to donate all the proceeds to the Hospice, ‘I lost my dear friend Clare to breast cancer in 2018. Clare was cared for by Florence Nightingale Hospice and I’m convinced that it was the best place for her to be. The Hospice provided great comfort and reassurance to Clare as well as her family and friends.

‘Everyone there was going through the same thing, so you didn’t feel quite so alone and scared. It really helped to be with people who understood and could help you through the process, providing not just medical care but also support and reassurance. I am so pleased that our performance of Appassionata is raising money for the Hospice Charity.’

A member of the nursing staff from the Hospice also plays violin in Aylesbury Vale Concert Orchestra.
