Apply for a Green Community Grant and Get up to £10,000 Funding
Dacorum Borough Council’s Green Community Grant scheme is now open for applications. This scheme is one of several grants offered to the Dacorum community, reflecting the Council’s commitment to supporting the borough’s voluntary and community sector while addressing the Climate and Ecological Emergency.
This year, the Council has increased the maximum grant available from £3,000 to £10,000 to support larger, more ambitious projects, such as building works that reduce carbon emissions.
The scheme will support community-led projects which help reduce the borough’s carbon footprint, enhance biodiversity, and promote sustainability.
Voluntary and community groups are welcomed to apply, including school groups and parish and town councils. To be eligible, projects must clearly demonstrate how they will contribute to the Climate and Ecological Emergency response, engage the local community and fit into one or more of the following categories:
- Energy in Buildings
- Sustainable Transport
- Biodiversity and Nature Recovery
Three grant levels are available, with a maximum award of £10,000.
Projects that do not meet the criteria above may be eligible for the broader Community Grants scheme, which opens for applications on Sunday 1 December 2024. Further details can be found at www.dacorum.gov.uk/grants.
Councillor Smith Wright, Portfolio Holder for Transformation, said: ‘Our Green Community Grant scheme is a fantastic opportunity for local groups to lead the way in tackling the Climate and Ecological Emergency. By increasing the funding available, we aim to support even more ambitious projects that reduce carbon emissions, enhance biodiversity and sustainable transport, and engage our community in sustainable action. Together, we can make a real difference and create a greener, more resilient future for Dacorum.’
The deadline for Green Community Grant applications is 31 January 2025.
