The Dacorum Careers Fair is being held on Wednesday 23 October 2019 at Shendish Manor Hotel, Apsley. They are looking for employers from across all sectors and industries to showcase their apprenticeships, work placements and jobs for school leavers.

Led by the team of Enterprise Advisers who support the participating Dacorum schools and Connect Dacorum, the Careers Fair brings students from the nine mainstream Dacorum schools, plus four special needs schools, in direct contact with employers and training providers in one venue with the overall aim of:

• Helping young people gain meaningful encounters with employers
• Teaching young people about a variety of local jobs and industries
• Educating students about the varied routes into work
• Enabling teachers and school staff to interact and network with employers

The event targets students in Y11 and Y12 (ages 15-17) particularly those who will not be going down the university route after school. Around 1,000 students are expected to be visiting on the day.

Companies are encouraged to bring along employees who will enjoy getting out from behind the stand, engaging with the young people, and talking to Teachers and Careers Leads too, and to talk about the sector your company represents – this helps young people to understand the breadth of jobs both within your company and the sector as a whole, for example the building sector doesn’t just employ building/manual roles, they also employ marketeers, accountants, IT staff, etc., etc.
