Police in Hertfordshire will be raising awareness of anti-social behaviour (ASB) this week, including what it is and how to get help if you are being affected by it.

ASB Awareness Week 2023 (3-9 July) is aimed at increasing public understanding of ASB and their rights in relation to it.

Hertfordshire Constabulary has Safer Neighbourhood Teams working in every part of the county to tackle ASB. They work alongside local authorities and other partners to tackle issues affecting people most and prevent them from happening again. Neighbourhood teams engage with the public and use technology such as the echo feedback platform to better understand what issues are affecting their communities most.

Throughout the week the neighbourhood teams will be using community engagement events to talk to people about ASB and share crime prevention advice.

The constabulary will also be taking to social media to support the week, sharing good results and information victims’ rights and support services – such as through Beacon victim care centre.

Chief Inspector Dave Cooke said: ‘While anti-social behaviour is not always a crime, it can have a severe impact on people’s lives and on communities, and it can also be associated with criminal activity such as illegal drug use.

‘We take reports very seriously and are committed to working with the public and partners to tackle it.’

He added: ‘One right that many people don’t realise they have is for an ‘ASB Case Review’, which was previously called Community Trigger. This process allows members of the public to request police and local authorities to review their case if they feel not enough has been done to tackle a repeated issue.’
