Awards prove more than just a trophy

Winners of Berkhamsted Sporting Excellence Awards 2025-26 season

When the Berkhamsted Sporting Excellence Awards were first launched, the ambition was simple: to give local sport the recognition it deserves. Two years on, those awards offer a moment that unites clubs, communities, and supporters from across the area.

For the second season, more than 90 people from across the sporting community attended the awards evening: athletes, coaches, volunteers, club officials, and community leaders, with nearly 40 nominations across all categories.

The benefits stretch far beyond the trophy cabinet. For athletes, being nominated, let alone winning, sends a message that their effort has been noticed. For clubs, it shines a light on grassroots work that rarely makes the headlines. And for Berkhamsted and its villages, it’s a rare chance for clubs across every sport to come together, share stories, and build connections that outlast the evening itself.

Nominations for the 2026/27 season open this autumn. Think about the athlete who has had a breakthrough season. The coach who transformed a team. The volunteer who holds everything together.
