Bailey’s Celebrate Their Centenary

Living Magazines Bailey and Sons centenary

Family-run Bailey and Sons jewellers on Lower Kings Road celebrates its 100th anniversary this year – and it’s doing it in style.

‘We want to thank our customers and welcome new ones in with our special shopping night on 7 December,’ says owner Charlotte Hewitt. ‘Which is why we’re giving away a bottle of Campfire Gin from Puddingstone Distillery with every purchase over £500.’

Bailey’s was established in London in 1919 by Charlotte’s great-grandfather Fred. The family moved the business to Amersham in the 1960s, and finally moved to Berkhamsted in 1981 when Charlotte’s father Nigel took over. ‘We had been called Hewitt’s before, but my father bought this business from another family and promised to keep the name,’ says Charlotte. They’ve been an important part of the town ever since.

To celebrate their centenary, they also held a private event in October – but it’s the event on 7 December that Charlotte’s most excited about.

‘We want to mark the occasion by offering customers a glass of gin as they shop, and making the evening really special. We hope people will come and celebrate with us!’
