Beaconlit goes online

Good news for local book lovers. Although BeaconLit, Ivinghoe’s very own book festival, which should have taken place on 11 July, has sadly gone the way of all events involving large gatherings this year, the festival is going online with a series of ‘pop-up’ events, via a shiny new BeaconLit Events YouTube channel.

For the first event, available to view from 2pm on Thursday 23 July, Dave Sivers is acting as moderator for the New Voices panel, featuring three fabulous debut authors – Eve Smith, Ruby Speechley and Sophie Ward. There’s a trailer for the event here.

There’s also a new BeaconLit Online 2020 page at beaconlit.co.uk/beaconlitonline2020.php where you can keep up with all the news, and also – if you’d like to – make a small donation to Beacon Villages Community Library, which the festival exists to support.

BVCL relies on donations and fundraising to survive and continue serving local communities, so the loss of this year’s festival has been quite a blow. The online events are free to enjoy, so donations are entirely voluntary. We hope you will enjoy the bookish treats in store!
