Berkhamsted Fireworks Then and Now

Living Magazines Berkhamsted Fireworks

The Annual Fireworks event in Berkhamsted is a long-standing event, traditionally organised and manned over past years by various local service organisations, such as the Round Table, Lions and currently by Berkhamsted Rotary Club – this year celebrating 85 years since its foundation!

In its original format and for many years, the event was held at Berkhamsted Castle and included a bonfire on the bailey and fireworks being set off by the local volunteers – days before Health and Safety issues were so prominent (or observed); nowadays it is much different!

For the past ten years, under the organisation of Berkhamsted Rotary, the annual Firework event has been held at the spacious Berkhamsted Cricket Club, allowing many more people safely to attend and enjoy the facility of the well-stocked Club bar and some BBQ food by professional caterers.

The extensive firework show is an excellent, professionally-run aerial performance with accompanying music.

Considering the cost of buying their own fireworks and risks of setting them off at home, many families attend and enjoy the early family ticket offer of £22.00 available via local schools, Saturday market stall or online  via www.berkobang.org.

Berkhamsted Rotary also run a number of other local events, including: the Half-Marathon and Fun-Run on the first Sunday in March, a Gilbert and Sullivan Concert in Berkhamsted Castle, normally in July each year, plus many other local community and school-focused activities, such as Young Chef, Youth Speaks, Young Photographer, Dacorum Young Artists and Technology Tournament.

Call by the Rotary market stall on the three Saturdays before the event – 16/23/30 October and meet the people involved – plus buy your Firework tickets.
