Berkhamsted Surgeries to Merge

Berkhamsted Living Magazine Rothschild House Surgery

Berkhamsted Group Practice and Rothschild House Group have reached an agreement to work together from 1 July. On this date, the partnership running both surgeries will merge, but patients will continue to receive care at their current surgery.

The two partnerships have agreed to this merger because of the opportunities for a large, locally-run surgery to enhance patient care and attract additional services. They said, ‘We will be looking after 40,000 patients and will be able to share expertise from the current group of clinicians, as well as attracting new GPs and other clinicians to join. We will be making some operational changes over time, which include recruitment of additional clinicians for the Berkhamsted sites and Berkhamsted Group Practice starting to work to the Rothschild House model of care.

‘Our patients are at the heart of our service and both partnerships are very much looking forward to working together to strengthen our commitment to excellent patient care.

‘We will keep our Patient Groups up to date with our progress and publish regular updates for patients on our websites and in our waiting rooms. We will add a Frequently Asked Questions (“FAQs”) section to our websites and update this information regularly.

‘If patients have a specific question about this process, they are welcome to write to the Practice Manager. Alternatively, patients can book into one of the regular monthly non-medical information sessions and we will put on some additional sessions over the next three months. We will collate all enquiries and publish the questions and answers in the FAQs section of our website. These FAQs will also be available in waiting rooms.’

Herts Valleys Clinical Commissioning Group (“CCG”) is aware of the proposed alliance of Rothschild House Surgery and Berkhamsted Group Practice and will be supporting the practices to ensure that the services provided to patients are appropriately maintained and enhanced as a result of this process. The support provided by Herts Valleys CCG includes assisting the practices in involving patients.

Patients of Berkhamsted Group Practice can call the surgery on 01442 874784 and ask to book into a Patient Help Session. The next sessions are 28 March and 25 April 2019, both at the Boxwell Road site, with appointments from 9am to 10.50am.
