Berkhamsted’s Got Talent Exhibition

Living Magazines Berkhamsted's Got Talent

Open Door’s latest exhibition is ‘Berkhamsted’s Got Talent’ which showcases fabulous textile creations from local artists and crafters.

The event will run until Saturday 21 August and is available to see at Open Door from 10.30am-3.30pm Monday to Saturday and will run in loving memory of wonderful friend and crafter Barbara Thoma.

The centrepiece of the exhibition is the Berkhamsted Textile Banner, subtitled ‘I Wish You Were Here’, which shows wonderful postcard designs of local Berkhamsted landmarks created by a range of needleworks and artists.

Landmarks include our very own Open Door, the Rex cinema and the Town Hall, with manager Joan Fisher one of the creators.

There will also be a competition where visitors will be invited to choose their three favourite postcards and the most popular will be selected for printing, to be available from Open Door in September.

Lockdown has been a challenge for everyone but it has offered a great opportunity for artists of any age to get creative with crafting and textiles activities with various works displayed at the exhibition including paintings like ‘Starfish Beach’ and ‘Sandcastle Beach’.

All work is available to order with artists allowed to submit up to three pieces of their work with statements given on some of the submissions of the artist’s inspiration behind the creation.

The work shows the vast array of talented local artists in Berkhamsted and the surrounding areas with submissions from paintings to knitted work and photographs with people of all ages putting their work forward.

During the exhibition you can also experience the wonderful garden with some delicious cakes and tea from the Open Door cafe where you can make donations and are warmly welcomed by friendly selfless volunteers.
