Call to support charity walkers

ISL Awards with Frank Bruno

A five-day charity walk raising funds and awareness for mental health will pass through Tring and the surrounding area in March.

The walk – a 71-mile challenge – is being undertaken by Dave Young, CEO of Independence Support Ltd (ISL), alongside Sean Young, ISL’s wellbeing coach.

The route begins at Wembley Stadium on 23 March, chosen to mark the location where boxer Frank Bruno won his world heavyweight title in 1995. On Day 2 (24 March), Dave and Sean will walk from Croxley Green, Watford, and through Tring, before continuing towards Leighton Buzzard. The walk will finish in Northampton at the Frank Bruno Foundation, with Frank Bruno joining them for the final mile.

Dave has spent many years working in social care and is now CEO of ISL, an organisation dedicated to supporting people with learning disabilities and those experiencing mental health challenges to gain the skills they need to live happier, more independent lives.

The walk reflects ISL’s ongoing commitment to mental health awareness, community wellbeing and breaking down stigma – values shared with the Frank Bruno Foundation, which uses sport and physical activity to help people rebuild confidence and improve mental wellbeing.

Local residents are encouraged to follow the journey, show their support, and help raise awareness for mental health.
