Calling all Artists

Living Magazines James Fox - Artist in Residence 2017

The Muir Trust Artist in Residence 2022 in collaboration with Bucks County Museum Trust.

Applications are now invited from mid-career, UK-based visual artists.

The Muir Trust is looking for an established artist-printmaker to respond to the theme of ‘Printing the Museum’ through their choice of print media.

The artist will create new artworks inspired by the museum and its collections, to resonate with visitors from Buckinghamshire and beyond.

The residency is scheduled to run alongside the museum’s main exhibition Picasso and the Masters of Print on loan from The Higgins, Bedford.

The residency will be based in Aylesbury for 20 days during April-May 2022.  The finished artworks will then be exhibited in the museum in June 2022.

The artist will have a dedicated studio-space in the museum throughout the residency.

During the residency the artist will:

  • be at work in an open studio where visitors can enter, observe and ask questions
  • run a workshop for adults
  • run a session for 6th form art students
  • give a public talk

An award of £3,000 will be paid, plus an allowance for subsistence/travel expenses.

Deadline for applications is noon on 30 November 2021.

Shortlisted applicants will be invited for interview on 6 January 2022.
