Cheyney’s Partner with Open Door

Max at Cheyneys with pasture-fed chickens at Hill Farm Ashridge

Open Door in Berkhamsted is pleased to be partnering with a new food donor – Max and his team from Cheyney’s, who produce eggs from pasture-fed happy chickens up at Hill Farm in Ashridge.

Cheyney’s deliver their lovely fresh eggs locally – all you need to do is set up a subscription. You can also sign up to get an organic veg box subscription, and from early Spring, their local White Park beef boxes will be also be available. They deliver to households in Berkhamsted, Tring and Hemel Hempstead, with an option for free collection from near Hill Farm.

Cheyney’s approached Open Door with the idea of donating boxes to support its community food programme, so subscribers now have the choice to donate their box to Open Door, should they be on holiday or wish to pause their deliveries for whatever reason. Open Door were delighted to receive their first donation this month, packed with wholesome local veg. The produce will be used to cook meals to serve in the community café, or to fill the Community Pantry, which is available 24/7 for people to access should they need food.

Open Door are so grateful to Max for enabling these donations of his wonderful produce. Max was born and raised in Berkhamsted, and at the age of 27, after doing some travelling, was inspired to try and make some real positive change to food systems in the UK, and went on to set up his own small farming enterprise that dealt with producing the very best quality food based on the permaculture principles. Cheyney’s was born in 2019 and is growing steadily. It’s a wonderful local company who are really inspired and motivated to deliver the very best food to Berkhamsted residents as well as engage with the community through farming and food security.

You can check out their wonderful produce at www.cheyneys.com – maybe you’d like to sign up yourself!
