Our Bookshop in Tring are very excited to announce they will be hosting a Children’s Science Week.

Starting 25 April, it will feature some amazing authors, scientists, professors and doctors who will be coming to Tring for a number of school visits (including Grove Road, Turnfurlong, Brookmead and Aston Clinton) in the area and then, each afternoon, will participate in a general event in the High Street Baptist Church.

In this inaugural celebration of Science for Children, the focus is on engineering, astronomy and nature.

Gather round and buckle and race into the science behind How to Build a Racing Car with Fran Scott. In this 60-minute long, family-friendly, interactive stage show, you’ll delve into the processes and people it takes to build these feats of engineering. Event suitable for Children 6+.

Reach for the stars with real-life astronomer Dr Sheila Kanani as she introduces her new book Can You Get Rainbows in Space?, a compendium of space, science and light, told through the colours of the rainbow. Learn lots of amazing facts such as: why is the world ‘going green’? Is the sky really blue? And what is ultraviolet light? – before being blown away by some colourful science demonstrations and even taking part in one yourself! Dr Sheila will introduce you to all the amazing jobs in the world of space and science to encourage you to dream big. Event suitable for Children 6+.

Join Professor Raman Prinja for an epic journey through space and time, with his latest book, The Future of the Universe. Prepare to be inspired as award-winning author and Head of Department for Astronomy at UCL, Professor Raman explains how astronomers can foresee the fascinating future of the cosmos using our knowledge of space. You’ll zoom trillions of years ahead in time to learn about the return of famous comets, the shiny new ring on Mars and the fate of our sun in this fact-filled interactive event for children. Event suitable for Children 6+

Or why not pull on your backpack and lace up your boots – on an adventure with Leisa Stewart-Sharpe! You’ll meet WILD creatures and discover WILD places from the bestselling non-fiction books with the BBC. Then, settle in for a reading from Wild Life that celebrates the adventures of Sir David Attenborough. There’ll be plenty of opportunities to dress up and make some noise, leaving you inspired by nature, and hopeful for the future of our planet. Event suitable for Children 4+.
