Chilfest Organisers Announce 2020 Event Cancellation

Living Magazines Chilfest

The organisers of Chilfest, Tring’s huge homegrown seventies and eighties revival music festival, are sad to confirm the news that a 2020 event will no longer be taking place.

The original 2020 festival dates were to be Friday 3 July and Saturday 4 July, but the event was postponed to Saturday 29 and Bank Holiday Monday 31 August back in March as the country entered lockdown. Today the news breaks that the revised August dates will also not be possible.

Steve Butcher, Director of Chilfest and Universal Event Productions, updates fans, ‘We are heartbroken to have had to pull the 2020 event, but we know all our amazing supporters will understand our decision. Even if we could go ahead, the festival simply isn’t viable if we have to employ social distancing measures.’

There is, however, good news for Chilfest music lovers. 2021 dates have already been confirmed and all ticket holders can transfer straight over to next year’s event. Chilfest 2021 is to take place on Friday 9 and Saturday 10 July.

The line-up is looking top quality with most of the 2020 artists successfully rearranged for next year. The Bootleg Beatles are set to headline on Friday 9 July and Adam Ant will headline on Saturday 10 July 2021.

Butcher continues, ‘The events industry is going to have to deal with significant challenges over the coming months. Chilfest isn’t a faceless organisation, we are a family business and we are going to be hit hard by the devastating Covid-19 pandemic. All we can do is be agile and stay positive. Getting our talent lined up for 2021 is very good news and we hope many current ticket holders will keep their Chilfest plans, albeit on much later dates, and join us for our next fabulous event.’

Ticket holders have all been issued with information relating to the event cancellation.
