Teddy Bears’ Picnic

Bring your favourite teddy bear along for a morning of outdoor fun where you’ll be immersed in nature at our ancient woodland site, Captain’s Wood near Chesham. See if you can spot the teddies hiding in the wood, hunt for minibeasts, make a salad for your teddy from thing’s you’ll pick from the wood and build a den for him to snooze in while you enjoy your own picnic on this pretty site. Don’t forget sunhat and sun cream!
Woodland Gathering & Crafts for families
19 August 10am-12noon or 2-4pm
Captain’s Wood, Chesham, Buckinghamshire HP5 2XJ United Kingdom
A family friendly morning or afternoon where you will learn all about the woodland, understanding more about the trees and plants and how to identify them. As you go, you’ll gather intriguing feathers, flowers and leaves and afterwards you’ll make a hazel hoop which you’ll decorate using the natural materials you foraged. All ages welcome, toddlers through to teens, plus their parents/grandparents/carers! Children must be accompanied by an adult.

Happy Homes for Helpful Bees

Learn all about the humble bumble and other beneficial insects. You’ll making your very own home for bees that you can take away with you and put in your garden. Bees need our help, it’s time for us to repay them for all the hard work they do pollinating our flowers, fruit and vegetables.

Night Creatures Safari

A fun evening looking and listening for ‘Creatures of the Night’ with local nature expert, Jools Hopton. Suitable for the whole family, we’ll be mask making and bug hunting in the meadow before setting off with bat detectors for a twilight walk around our neighbouring Brush Hill Local Nature Reserve where we’ll be searching for bats, deer, owls and other nocturnal creatures. Don’t forget your torch and insect repellent for those naughty midges!
