Comedy Capers at Aylesbury Waterside Theatre

Olive Boy Comedy Capers at Aylesbury Waterside Theatre

If laughter is the best medicine, theatregoers can expect a clean bill of health as Aylesbury Waterside Theatre ramps up its comedy offering to a whole new level. Their regular Comedy Clubs already sell out weeks in advance with their line-up of fresh up-and-coming talent from the stand-up circuit, and now they’re hosting their first ever Comedy Club 4 Kids!

Taking place in the Norman Bragg Studio on Saturday 25 May, their debut Comedy Club 4 Kids will feature the best stand-ups and sketch acts from the international circuit doing their thing for an audience of children (aged 6+) and their families. The show is family friendly, but without any patronising idiocy. In fact, it’s just like a normal comedy club, but it’s on in the day, kids are allowed in, and thus there is a higher than usual chance of heckles like ‘why is that your face!?’

The Waterside’s studio space also sees an Edinburgh Fringe best-seller coming with crude and compelling coming-of age comedy, The Olive Boy (Tue 28 May), a night not to be missed with Fanny Galore’s Big Bingo Party (Sat 1 Jun) and an all-dayer with Comedy Legends (Sat 8 Jun) where comedy historian Robert Ross, will be bringing a full, fun-filled day in the company of some of our best-loved comedy personalities including Louise Burton (Old Mr. Grace’s secretary Virginia Edwards in Are You Being Served?), Judy Buxton (Rising Damp, On the Up), Jeffrey Holland (Spike Dixon in Hi-de-Hi,) and Steve Nallon (voice of the indomitable Margaret Thatcher in Spitting Image).

Not only this, but Ria Lina the only Filipina comedian in British stand-up and a hugely admired talent in the comedy industry, is making her Waterside debut on Fri 5 Jul, having already clocked up an impressive list of credits including: Live At The Apollo, Have I Got News For You, Mock the Week , The Last Leg and Celebrity Mastermind.

With huge household names including Rhod Gilbert, Jimmy Carr, Katherine Ryan, Nish Kumar and Ben Elton also taking to the main stage over coming months, the Waterside really is the place to be for comedy.
