Win a ‘Dolly’ for a day
From overwhelmed to in control – one space at a time.
It rarely starts as a huge problem. Just a drawer that won’t close, a surface that slowly disappears, a room you stop going into. Until one day, your home – the place that should feel calm – feels overwhelming instead.
Dilly Carter, founder of Declutter Dollies, Declutter Training, and a Tring resident, has built her career helping people at the exact moment when calm needs to be applied to chaos. As a Sri Lankan-born professional organiser and household name on BBC Sort Your Life Out and BBC Sounds podcast, Sort Your Life Out Unpacked, she knows that clutter is never just about ‘things’ being in the wrong place. It’s about busy lives, shifting priorities, a house without systems and the mental load we carry every day.
Through Declutter Dollies, Dilly leads a team of 11 accredited organisers affectionately known as ‘The Dollies’ working in homes across the UK, offering practical, compassionate support and solutions without judgement. Their focus isn’t perfection, it’s creating simple, sustainable systems that make everyday life easier.
If you’re lucky enough to win our competition for a Dolly for a Day, it would be more than just help with one area of your home. It would be a starting point. A chance to tackle a space that’s been weighing on you, create systems that work for you, and to experience the shift that comes when things finally feel manageable again.
Because often, it only takes one clear, organised space to change how your whole home feels.
And sometimes, that’s all you need to begin.
Dilly’s declutter tips for summer:
- Use the opportunity for light, good weather to move large bulky items such as sofas, tables and storage units, and really clean underneath not just around
- Open windows and doors
- Clear windowsills
- Swap winter / summer duvets
- Rotate your wardrobe
- Look at your outside areas such as garages, lofts, sheds
