Sir Mike Penning, MP for Hemel Hempstead has welcomed new Office of National Statistics figures that show a  further fall in unemployment in the Hemel Hempstead constituency.

The number of unemployed claimants in the Hemel Hempstead Constituency in August 2018 was 830. This is 160 lower than in August 2017 and 35 lower than in July 2018. This represents 1.5% of the economically active population aged 16-64. There were 140 claimants between the ages of 18 and 24; which is 35 lower than in August 2017.

Sir Mike said: ‘A record number of people are now in work as unemployment continues to fall to record lows. We now have wages rising faster than prices which means paypackets go further. More people than ever have the security of a job and are able to provide for their families.
