Copper House Berkhamsted

Living Magazines Copper House bar and restaurant

As we reported back in March, the new Copper House bar and restaurant opened its doors to the public on 17 April with a fantastic launch event which we were delighted to attend.

Located in a stunning listed building on Berkhamsted High Street, this proudly independent venue is brought to you by a team of local entrepreneurs who have realised their dream to create a welcoming place to meet, eat and drink. Their vision of a stylish destination venue has been delivered, with stunning cocktails, an exciting champagne and sparkling range and delicious food served in social sharing style.

The heart of this new venue is the striking copper bar where bartenders mix their innovative house cocktail recipes alongside a range of classic cocktails or guests can select from the extensive champagne range including Moet & Chandon, Ruinart and Dom Perignon. The wine by the glass is an exceptional selection thanks to the Coravin system which allows Copper House to offer prestigious wines by the glass which are normally only available by the bottle.

Particular attention has been given to creating an exciting non-alcoholic range for guests, which include eight bespoke cocktails, a delightful dry sparkling Spumante, white wine, red wine and premium beer.

The menu designed by Head Chef, Matt Wood, re-defines sharing food, elevating it to a new level with small and large plates of the highest quality, served in a relaxed social style. The menu is a delicious range of Modern European cuisine adapted to a sharing style, ranging from small plates such as crab bon bons to large plates such as Cote de Beouf.

As a local business created by local people, the Copper House team are also keen to support other local businesses for their sourcing. Among the great partnerships are fish suppliers from Tring, coffee roasters from Hemel Hempstead and an award winning English sparkling wine from Chafor Wine Estate, just thirty miles away.

The new luxurious décor in this Grade II-listed venue comes to life at night – with a stunning centrepiece Tom Dixon chandelier, chairs and banquettes upholstered in silk and velvet, and textured dark wooden tables.

A weekend brunch menu is on offer Friday to Sunday until 5pm, accompanied by Champagne or a variety of Brunch Bloody Mary cocktails. The new state-of-the-art music system, with playlists curated by Music Concierge, provide the perfect backdrop from day into night for guests to enjoy during their Weekend Brunch at Copper House.

For lovers of ‘al fresco’ dining, the south-facing terrace is the perfect spot to enjoy a glass of Rose and a bite to eat whilst watching the world go by along Berkhamsted High Street. Planters overflowing with foliage, copper flecked tables and comfortable chairs give the space a chic feel.
