Council invites applications for Warm Homes grant
Dacorum Borough Council is inviting residents from low-income households to apply for the Warm Homes: Local Grant, funded by £2.8 million from the government to improve energy efficiency and reduce carbon emissions in homes.
In partnership with E-ON, the scheme is for eligible low-income homeowners, private landlords and private renters with their landlord’s consent. Landlords can have their first property fully funded, with a 50% contribution needed for additional homes.
Eligibility Criteria:
- Live in Dacorum.
- Have an Energy Performance Certificate (EPC) of D, E, F or G.
- Have a low income of £36,000 or less. If their earnings exceed this, they may still qualify based on postcode, or if a household member receives certain benefits.
If eligible, E-ON will arrange a home survey to assess potential upgrades for energy efficiency. They might suggest improvements like installing wall, loft and underfloor insulation, air source heat pumps, smart controls or solar panels.
Cllr Caroline Smith-Wright, Portfolio Holder for People and Transformation and Climate and Emergency at Dacorum Borough Council, said: ‘I’m delighted that we have been granted this vital funding to help improve the energy efficiency of local homes. This investment will make a real difference to residents, helping to create warmer, more sustainable homes while reducing energy costs. It’s a fantastic step towards a greener, healthier future for our community.’
