Dacorum Borough Council Local Plan Closes 28 February 2021

Living Magazines Dacorum Local Plan

Just a couple of weeks left now to make your comments on DBC’s Local Plan 2020-38 which has far-reaching proposals for the Borough, with nearly 20,000 new homes planned by 2038, new ‘neighbourhoods’ in Tring and Berkhamsted on current high quality Green Belt, impact on infrastructure and the long, rural views we currently enjoy to and from the Chilterns AONB.

If you haven’t already, you can view these plans at www.dacorum.gov.uk/home/planning-development/planning-strategic-planning/new-single-local-plan.

Members of the CCG (Chiltern Countryside Group) have recently spoken with Gagan Mohindra, MP for SW Herts, concerning these plans and the huge numbers of housing proposed. Gagan assured us he is continuing to lobby Government ministers on these vast numbers, in view of Government’s announcement in December 2020, on revision of the housing target algorithm and that policy would focus on protecting Green Belt and urban regeneration, particularly for England’s 20 largest cities.

CCG will be publishing its draft response on the website next week. Meanwhile, they would urge you to spread the word amongst your own contacts, get in touch with your local Dacorum Councillor and make your own representations to the 2 MPs: Gagan Mohindra and Mike Penning (for Hemel Hempstead).

In addition, Berkhamsted Citizens have produced a poster you can print and display in your window. Visit www.berkhamstedcitizens.org.uk for help in responding.
