Dacorum Mencap Boosted By Donation From Local Team

Living Magazines UNP Amazon 41530 LTN2 Goes Gold for Dacorum Mencap

The staff and volunteers at Dacorum Mencap have received a £1,000 donation from the Amazon fulfilment centre in Hemel Hempstead.

Dacorum Mencap supports people with learning disabilities, along with their families and carers, in the Borough of Dacorum in Hertfordshire.

The donation will help sustain the support services and activities which Dacorum Mencap provides to ensure that adults with learning disabilities reach their potential and are valued equally by their peers and society as a whole.

Mark Keeney, Site Leader at Amazon in Hemel Hempstead, said: ‘We are proud to make this donation to Dacorum Mencap, a charity that gives adults with learning disabilities the opportunity to thrive as individuals, and enhance their independence.’

Carol Walls, Project Manager from Dacorum Mencap, added, ‘We are extremely grateful for this very generous donation from Amazon. We support adults with learning disabilities and due to the lockdown we have been supporting our members via Zoom, video chats and phone calls. This money will help support our members as we transition back to social activities by providing extra staff to ensure their wellbeing. Thank you, Amazon.’

This donation forms part of the ‘Amazon in the Community’ programme, whereby the company supports the communities around its operating locations across the UK.

Community donations are one of a number of ways in which Amazon is supporting communities across the UK during COVID-19.

Amazon is providing disadvantaged students with online STEM courses as well as teaming up with charity partner Magic Breakfast and delivering 1.4 million healthy breakfasts to families around the UK.
