Residents supported Dacorum Borough Council’s second Your Town event raising more than £600 for charity.

Due to Covid-19 restrictions, it could not be held as a community event with participants running together, but residents still came out in force to run or walk 5k or 10k in their own town or village over the weekend of 17/18 October.

There were 102 participants of all ages who helped raise over £600 in donations for the Mayor’s chosen charity RAISE dedicated to supporting patient care across Hemel Hempstead, St Albans City and Watford General Hospitals.

Cllr Julie Banks, Portfolio Holder for Community and Regulatory Services said: ‘It was great to be part of such a fantastic event taking place across Dacorum, an opportunity for residents to get out in their local area and take part in a borough wide activity raising much needed funds while improving their own mental health and wellbeing.’

The Mayor of Dacorum, Cllr Terry Douris, who also took part, said: ‘It was great to be able to take part and raise money for such a worthy cause. My thanks go to everyone who took part or just contributed and also to my Mayoresses and family. The people of Dacorum shone through again and contributed to a brilliant weekend.’
