Dacorum Retains Park Mark Award

Nineteen of Dacorum Borough Council’s 24 car parks have attained the prestigious British Parking Association’s Park Mark Safer Parking Award.

The car parks at The Forge, Tring; Langley Hill, Kings Langley and Park Road, Hemel Hempstead have all been reassessed by independent specialists from The British Parking Association and Hertfordshire Constabulary and found to meet the standards of the Safer Parking Scheme, an initiative designed to reduce crime and the fear of crime in car parks.

Assessors took into account a range of factors, including how well the car parks are managed and maintained, levels of cleanliness, and whether there is appropriate surveillance, lighting, and signage in place. Maintaining this accreditation means that the car parks have measures in place to deter crime and anti-social behaviour, creating a safer environment for customers and their vehicles.

There was also a new addition to the list, Victoria Hall Car Park in Tring was also awarded Park Mark status.

All Council owned car parks in Tring, are now Park Mark compliant. And there are now 20 car parks in Dacorum that have received the Park Mark award.

Councillor David Collins, Portfolio Holder for Corporate and Contracted Services said: ‘Our aim is to offer our residents and visitors good parking facilities that are safe, clean and help to support our town centres. We want to provide users of our car parks with excellent parking facilities.

‘Retaining this award for three of our car parks, together with Victoria Hall Car Park gaining Park Mark status for the first time, shows we have succeeded in doing just that. I look forward to more of our car parks gaining this award.’
