Dementia and Stroke Discussion Evening

Age UK Dacorum invites members of the public and health care professionals to an evening of presentation and discussion on the Life Changing Diagnoses of Dementia and Stroke, at Berkhamsted Town Hall on Friday 20 May 2022 from 6.30-9.30pm.

Speakers will include, an opening address by SW Herts MP Gagan Mohindra, Dementia Specialist, Dr Tammy Angel, Clinical Director of Elderly Care at Luton & Dunstable and Bedford Hospitals Trust and Dr Tolu Adesina, Clinical Director of Stroke & Elderly Care at West Herts Hospitals Trust. Open to all, including health care professionals, advance tickets cost £8 or on the day £12 [including booking fee and complimentary hot drink] Further refreshments can be purchased, from the bar, including during the interval. The speakers will address issues such as identifying dementia and stroke, diagnosis, post-diagnosis management and care options as well as coping strategies, referrals, and planning so you can get the care you need. There will be a chance to ask questions, meet the specialists and learn more about support for carers, with exhibitors from local and national care providers.

The event is the initiative of Age UK Dacorum’s Sue Beardshaw, who said: ‘The aim is to help people understand more about dementia and stroke and what can be done to support and empower patients and families affected by these conditions. By holding an event and inviting people to hear from experts, it is hoped it will create improved understanding of these life changing conditions and showcase the invaluable role that Age UK Dacorum can play for those patients and families who are affected.’
