Enlist in Dad’s Army
The wonderful classic BBC TV comedy series of the Home Guard of Walmington-on-Sea who battle daily against the Germans and local ARP Warden Hodges, is coming to the Boxmoor Playhouse stage from 11 to 14 March 2020.
Did you catch the Dad’s Army lost episodes on UKTV Gold recently? It was fascinating to watch the characters we are so familiar with being portrayed by different actors. Perry and Croft’s writing is so clever that you very quickly forgot they were different actors and just enjoyed the comedy.
HHTheatreCo would be delighted to see you in the audience, but you could also take part, on stage or off. There is a launch and intro evening so you can get a chance to find out about the play and get audition pieces on 24 October at 7.45pm. Auditions are on 29 and 31 October at 7.45pm.
But it’s not all about the actors on stage. Creating 1940s Walmington-On-Sea is going to be an exciting challenge. The theatre company will need experienced veterans as well as enthusiastic new recruits to create the perfect look and soundscape. So calling all set designers, scenery painters, prop makers, costume makers, sound designers and lighting technicians: the Home Guard needs you!
