Country Houses Requisition & Destruction in the Second World War
Wigginton History Society, Village Hall, Wigginton, 8pm. In the late 1930’s the British Government realised that country houses were a key national resource with an important role to play in the coming war. Adam Smith is a lecturer specialising in architectural history and the English country house and will review the myriad uses country houses were given and the damage inflicted on some of them.
