Experience the thrill of Roman gladiators at Chiltern Open Air Museum
Step back in time this May Bank Holiday as the roar of the crowd returns to the arena at Chiltern Open Air Museum. On 3-4 May, visitors can experience the drama, danger and spectacle of Roman gladiatorial combat in a live re-enactment event.
Audiences will witness the clash of steel as gladiators – drawn from all walks of life, from prisoners of war to disgraced soldiers – battle for honour, survival and glory. With every contest, the crowd plays a vital role: will you show mercy, or call for blood?
The action is brought to life by Britannia, one of the UK’s leading historical re-enactment groups. With more than 150 television and film credits, including Gladiator and Horrible Histories, their performances combine meticulous historical accuracy with high-energy entertainment.
This immersive event is ideal for families, history lovers and anyone looking for a fun day out. Alongside the arena action, visitors can explore the museum’s historic buildings and enjoy a full programme of engaging activities.
