The Greyhound in Wigginton
I’d been looking forward to sampling the culinary delights offered by Andy and Natilee at the Greyhound. It already has a great reputation in the area and has just been fully refurbished, inside and out, to an impressive standard.
That impressive standard was certainly maintained when it came to the food.
The main menu gives you an extensive choice of dishes. As a starter, I decided on the seared goat’s cheese served on a walnut, pear, beetroot and rocket salad. It was a beautifully presented starter dish in which the various elements complemented each other perfectly.
On to the daily specials menu for my next culinary treat. The starter had raised the bar, but my choice of main course soared over it. Pan-fried sea bass fillets with roasted new potatoes, peppers, wilted spinach and capers, accompanied by lemon and chive butter; it was beautiful to look at and even better to eat.
A homemade apple and blackberry crumble with fresh cream rounded off one of the best food reviews I have had the pleasure of doing in my two years with Living magazines. I very strongly recommend a visit to the Greyhound in Wigginton. RB-T
