Free Summer Activities for Children with Additional Needs

Living Magazines Absolutely Together activities for children with additional needs

Families from across Hertfordshire who have children and young adults with additional needs are being given the opportunity to take part in six exciting leisure activities for no cost this summer.

The free activities are being provided by the charity Absolutely Together, which works with families who require extra support. It gives access to leisure activities, which families may otherwise be unable to enjoy – in 2022, it provided over 30,000 free sessions.

Additionally, through its subsidiaries Absolutely Leisure and Dacorum Sports Trust, Absolutely Together provides a range of affordable activities at state-of-the-art venues. At a selection of these sites throughout the summer, families will be able to enjoy free disc golf, footgolf, climbing and skateboarding at Hemel Hempstead venues Little Hay Golf Complex and The XC, as well as ten pin bowling and indoor go karting at Rogue Leisure in Aylesbury.

David Brind from Absolutely Together commented: ‘Due to physical and financial restrictions, we fully understand that it can be difficult for families that have members with diverse needs to enjoy an activity together, which can often lead to isolation and mental ill-health. Our summer of activities is doing something to change this by giving families a chance to enjoy a fun and exciting activity together for free.

‘If families take part in at least four activities, each member will receive a medal, and we look forward to welcoming families to Little Hay Golf Complex, Rogue Leisure and The XC for fun and memorable experiences.’

Each activity is fully accessible, and where necessary, the venues have specially adapted equipment, such as twin seat go karts.
