Garden waste collections restart for spring

Living Magazines DBC Garden Waste collection

Dacorum Borough Council’s garden waste collections will start again from the fortnight beginning Monday 9 March.

Green-lidded bins are for organic garden waste only, such as:

  • grass/hedge cuttings
  • leaves
  • twigs/small branches
  • flowers (including cut flowers that are kept inside the house)
  • prunings
  • weeds
  • small animal bedding made from straw, hay or woodchips (but not shredded paper)

No bags, plastic, cardboard, food, or any other waste should ever go in your green-lidded bin. All cardboard should be recycled in your blue-lidded bin and all food waste should go into food waste caddies.

If you are unsure when your green-lidded bins are being collected, use the council’s online postcode checking tool to download your Waste Collection Calendar: www.dacorum.gov.uk/mybins.

The council can only accept garden waste in the green-lidded bins provided, it cannot take extra waste in bags. If you have a large garden, or are doing a big garden project this year, and need more than one green-lidded bin, did you know you can subscribe to having additional bins?

The 2020 Additional Garden Waste Subscription Service offers you the opportunity to buy additional 240-litre green-lidded bins for £25 each and have them collected on your normal garden waste collection day for a seasonal subscription fee of £55 per bin.

The additional green-lidded bins will be collected on the same day and at the same frequency as the normal green-lidded bin collections, typically from March to November.

The regular garden waste service currently provided to householders will remain unchanged; this additional service is simply an optional extra.
