Garden Waste

Living Magazines Garden Waste

Garden waste collections will start again from the fortnight beginning 25 February. Find out when your next green-lidded bin collection is using your Waste Collection Calendar or the council’s online postcode checking tool: www.dacorum.gov.uk/mybins.

The 2019 Additional Garden Waste Subscription Service offers you the opportunity to buy additional 240-litre green-lidded bins for £25 each (or use pre-existing green bins previously supplied by the council) and have them collected on your normal garden waste collection day for a seasonal subscription fee of £55.

The additional green-lidded bins will be collected on the same day and at the same frequency as the normal green-lidded bin collections, typically from March to November.

The regular garden waste service currently provided to householders will remain unchanged; this additional service is simply an optional extra.

Green-lidded bins are for garden waste only, such as:

  • grass/hedge cuttings
  • leaves
  • twigs/small branches
  • flowers (including cut flowers that are kept inside the house)
  • prunings
  • weeds
  • small animal bedding made from straw, hay or woodchips (but not shredded paper)

Please note, all cardboard should be recycled in your blue-lidded bin and all food waste should go into food waste caddies. No plastic, cardboard or food waste should ever go in your green-lidded bin.
