Has your town centre felt safer this summer?

Jonathan Ash-Edwards

You may remember earlier this, Hertfordshire Police and Crime Commissioner, Jonathan Ash-Edwards sent a short survey out to residents in Hertfordshire asking for their views on safety in our town centres.

Based on your feedback, there has been a big push to improve safety in our town centres, shopping areas and parks, working with Hertfordshire Constabulary, local Councils and Business Improvement Districts.

There have been more police patrols, proactive action to tackle shop theft, anti-social behaviour and robbery and partnership working with Trading Standards to close dodgy vape shops selling counterfeit or illegal goods. Mounted police even visited one of the county’s parks for reassurance patrols.

The statistics show the work has delivered results with a 6% reduction in crime in our town centres this summer compared to the same period last year. But statistics only tell some of the story and so Mr Ash-Edwards is now running a short follow-up survey to see whether you’ve noticed a difference, what you think has made the most impact to safety in your local area and what you’d like to see prioritised next.

Your feedback helps the PCC focus on the things that matter most to you. The survey takes less than 5 minutes to complete.
