Help for Two Oaks

It’s been part of Berkhamsted since 2006 – but every year Two Oaks Pony Sanctuary on Darrs Lane in Northchurch faces the risk of closure due to lack of funds.

Carolann Buchorksi opened the sanctuary 13 years ago. She runs the place single-handedly, with help from generous volunteers, but needs regular help to keep the place open.

‘I love running this place, but the financial strain is enormous,’ says Carolann. ‘With horses and ponies, goats, pigs, sheep, geese and chickens, our running costs and vet bills come to £2,000 a month.’

Carolann runs fundraising events as often as she can, and her next Open Day takes place on 9 June, and will include stalls, face painting, bouncy castle, dog show, a BBQ and much more.

But they still need more regular support, which is why Carolann has set up a brand new ‘Superstars’ scheme, asking people to donate £10, £5 or £1 a month by standing order.

‘People can donate as much or as little as they can afford – it all helps pay for our feed and hay,’ she explains.
