Dacorum Borough Council’s recent Local Plan consultation highlighted that the continued regeneration of Hemel Hempstead remains a key priority for the borough’s residents. The Council is keen to take this forward by exploring new opportunities.

The Council is looking to identify several new ‘Opportunity Areas’ across the town. One of those has been identified in the Two Waters area of Hemel Hempstead.

To help explore the Two Waters Opportunity Area in more depth, the Council has launched a six-week consultation to find out residents’ views on what they consider to be most important, including:

  • What they currently like and dislike about the Two Waters area;
  • What special features make the area unique, including local landmarks, key features and important views;
  • What they think the Council should focus on to make the area a better place.

In October 2021, the Council was awarded funding by the Government to explore and trial new ways of engaging with local communities. The Council will be using these new engagement tools to carry out the consultation. This includes using new technologies such as developing a 3D model of the study area, and using an innovative ‘voice-to-text’ approach to respond to the survey.

Issues raised in previous consultations about the Two Waters area have been carefully considered, and the purpose of the new consultation is to look at addressing many of these alongside new opportunities.

Portfolio Holder for Planning and Infrastructure, Cllr Alan Anderson said: ‘This is a great chance for residents to have their say about what makes Two Waters special to them, using the latest engagement technology. The feedback we receive will help us to prepare new guidance and shape the future of the area.’
