Hemel Business Park Raises over £800 for Cancer Charity

Living Magazines Macmillan Cancer Care Coffee Morning Breakspear Park

Breakspear Park in Hemel Hempstead hosted two back-to-back fundraising events in September to help raise £842.97 for Macmillan Cancer Support.

The first event was a silent viewing of the box office smash, ‘Avengers: Endgame’. Screened the evening before Macmillan’s World’s Biggest Coffee Morning, staff at the business park experienced the film via headphones so there was no distraction of rustling sweet wrappers. The event was free to all members of staff in return for a charitable donation.

The following morning saw the venue transformed from a cinema to a table-top cake sale, with luxury tombola. Taking centre stage stood a 115 cm cake stand hosting 300 cupcakes – all of which were sold for the charity in record time. Breakspear Park also donated 50p from cups of coffee sold by the café for the good cause.

The extravagant tombola featured a selection of luxury items that included a Kenwood mixer, a Lavazza coffee machine, a selection of wines, and Emma Bridgewater kitchenware among other prizes. Tickets were sold for £2 each, or five for £5.

Dina Mistry, Marketing Manager at Breakspear Park, commented: ‘Due to the success and positive feedback we received following last year’s event it was a no-brainer for us to take part again. We built on that event with the addition of the silent cinema screening which was a great hit with the staff.

‘We are delighted to say that we raised a massive £842.97. Hopefully this will go a long way in helping Macmillan Cancer Support continue the invaluable work it undertakes.’
