Hertfordshire Association of Museums Object of the Year 2026

Herts Museums Object of the Year 2026

Hertfordshire Association of Museums have launched their annual Object of the Year Award, and voting is now open.

23 museums across the county are competing to have their entry chosen by public vote.

The Archives has entered a piece of music history: a flyer from one of the most iconic events ever held in Hertfordshire: Pink Floyd’s appearance at the Knebworth Festival on 5 July 1975. Featuring a full and varied supporting bill, the concert drew thousands of fans to the grounds of Knebworth House, an event that has become legendary in British rock history.

The objects in the competition showcase the rich and varied history of Hertfordshire telling compelling stories of its residents and their lives.

Entries include an early-1900s Lion Brand toilet roll from Frogmore Paper Mill, a set of dressed fleas from the Natural History Museum at Tring and a 1940s Scout Master’s hat from Tring Local History Museum.

Find out about all the entries and vote on the website.

Voting will remain open until midnight on Sunday 22 February. The winner will be announced on Wednesday 4 March at the Hertfordshire Association of Museums Awards.
