Hertfordshire Health Walks Return
A new summer programme of Hertfordshire Health Walks begins in Berkhamsted on 4 May 2023 and in Tring on 11 May 2023.
Enjoy the local countryside and green spaces in trails led by qualified volunteer leaders. Meet new people and enjoy the many health and well-being benefits walking provides. Walks are volunteer-led, friendly and local – everyone (aged 18 years and above) is welcome!
Walking improves your health by:
- Helping your heart and lungs to work better
- Lowering your blood pressure
- Keeping your weight down and managing blood sugar levels
- Boosting your mood
- Keeping your joints, muscles and bones strong
- Increasing your ‘good’ cholesterol
With a regular walk on your doorstep, you can start to build activity into your daily life. You can start slowly and walk at a pace you are comfortable with, thanks to the grading system used. Brisk walking is advocated – where you feel a bit warmer and your heart is beating a bit faster, but you’re still able to chat to the person next to you. That’s when you’ll reap the health benefits listed above.
All walks are free and they are graded between 20-30 minutes (First Steps) and up to 90 minutes (Grade 4) unless otherwise stated, whilst Grade 4+ progression walks can last up to 2 hours.
To attend you simply need to register once here then just bring yourself along to any of walks that are suitable for you. If you prefer, you can turn up 15 minutes before your first walk and complete a New Walker Form.
