Herts Visual Arts is showcasing art in the heart of our communities across Hertfordshire. Herts Open Studios is the largest event of the annual Hertfordshire art calendar. For over 30 years, this popular event has been bringing artists, artisans, and art lovers together for inspiration and discovery. It’s a wonderful opportunity to appreciate local art and maybe learn new skills too!
This year Herts Open Studios runs from 9 September to 1 October. Every venue is free to enter, providing three weeks of live, in-person art. Visitors can enjoy everything from classical to contemporary, decorative to functional, figurative to abstract, wall-hung to 3D art.
Herts Visual Arts members are delighted to be sharing their art with throughout Hertfordshire. Expect to be inspired by original artwork using a rich variety of media. What can be more exciting than the chance to experience, or perhaps purchase a special piece of art, direct from the artist?
Artists will be opening their studios, pop-up demonstrations and exhibitions to the public, free of charge. There will be plenty of in-person options and video studio tours to browse. Would you like to find out more about an artist? Biographies and meet-the-artist videos are a simple and informative way to start.Finding an Open Studio is simple. Use the Herts Visual Arts website and/or brochure to plan your visits before you set out. Look out for the yellow signage positioned near each venue, including yellow bunting, direction arrows, and banners. The yellow pavement branding is like a friend to welcome you at the gate, saying “come on in”. ‘With many new artists joining our event alongside long-standing participants, there is just so much to explore,’ said Herts Visual Arts Chair, Sally Taylor, who continued: ‘It’s wonderful to see the excitement building as our artists prepare to open their doors in September. We can’t wait to welcoming all our visitors.’
