Hospice Shown Support By Amazon Team

Living Magazines Hospice of St Francis Amazon donation

A Berkhamsted hospice has received a £1,000 donation from the Amazon fulfilment centre in Hemel Hempstead.

The Hospice of St Francis helps those who are managing or recovering from serious illness. The charity helps individuals to live life well by improving symptoms and by working with those in their care to achieve personal goals – anything from getting back to work, enjoying family time or walking the dogs again.

The Hospice of St Francis plans to use the donation to support its Community Nursing Team which has had to adapt its services during the pandemic.

Mark Keeney, Site Leader at Amazon in Hemel Hempstead, said: ‘The Hospice of St Francis offers an outstanding level of care to those in the communities in which our employees live and work. This donation supports their ongoing commitment and hard work during these challenging times for both staff and patients.’

Claire Larkin, Corporate Partnerships Manager at The Hospice of St Francis, added: ‘We have been working tirelessly for the past number of months to ensure that those in our care continue to receive the dedicated support services they need. It is a privilege to accept this donation from Mark and the team.’

The donation forms part of the ‘Amazon In The Community’ programme, whereby the company supports the communities around its operating locations across the UK.

Community donations are one of a number of ways in which Amazon is supporting communities across the UK during COVID-19.

Amazon is providing disadvantaged students with online STEM courses as well as teaming up with charity partner Magic Breakfast and delivering over 2 million healthy breakfasts to families around the UK.
